Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) BE Admission 2012


Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) invites application for admission to BE in Printing Technology in collaboration with Maharashtra Mudran Parishad’s Institute of Printing Technology and Research (MNPIPTR) for academic year 2012.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936, as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. At the height of economic depression in the 1930s, the trustees of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust willed to create an institution to train human service professionals to address acute poverty, destitution, unemployment, and other social and economic problems. The Trust invited Prof. Clifford Manshardt of Chicago University to establish the School of Social Work. In the subsequent decades, TISS influenced the direction of social work education and social research in India and Asia. In 1944, the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. In 1964, University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India (GoI) recognized the Institute as a Deemed University, and fully funds its maintenance. TISS is currently celebrating 75 years of contribution to the nation.

ITM University invites application for M.Tech programme for academic year 2012.

Specializations in M.Tech:

How To Apply:
There are three ways students can apply:
1. Online on university website www.itmindia.edu
  • Students will fill in the form online and also pay the processing fee Rs. 1000/- online. They will receive an email confirmation for their online application. The confirmation will also constitute an acknowledgement of having received the processing fee of the said amount. On receiving the email confirmation, all documents along with the email printout should be sent bb the application by post or submit by hand at ITM University on or before the last date

2. Download Application Forms
  • Second option is that the applicant can download the application form and dully filled form can be submitted by hand / by post enclosing all documents along with a DD of Rs. 1000/- payable at ‘ITM University, Gurgaon’ as application processing fee

3. Off Line Application Forms
  • Third option is that the candidate can send the DD of Rs. 1000/- to ITM University, Gurgaon with request for application form giving their postal address. ITM University would request send the admission brochure / booklet along with the application form at his / her address which should be duly filled and completed, enclosing all documents. It can then be sent by post / by hand to ITM University on or before the last date. Basic Things To Take Care Of During Group Discussion
Communication skills:
The first aspect of the group discussion is communication skills. A candidate has to speak thoroughly to convince other members of the group. Grabbing the attention of the audience creates a positive impact.
The judges evaluate on the basis of listening. It is necessary that it should be precise and clear. Evaluators look on the candidate’s knowledge in the subject, precision and clarity of the thoughts. Never focus on irrelevant talks in the discussion and speak forcefully to create impact on the subject.
Listening is also important and based on that the judges evaluate. It is also necessary that you should be able to convey your thoughts convincingly to others. If you are not good at speaking, join a crash course of public speaking which may be offered by many institutes. This course is designed to improve communication skills, conversation skills, business writing, negotiation skills and presentation skills. In depth knowledge on the topic being discussed makes one confident and enthusiastic.
Addressing the group as a whole:
In a group discussion it is not nessacary to address the members by their name. It is advisable to address the group as a whole. Use very formal language but not as used in normal conversations. Never use words or phrases like “Yar”, “Chalta Hai”,”CP”,”I Donno”etc. There is no need to speak in highly textured English. Use formal, plain and simple English. Don’t mix-up Hindi and English in group discussion.

Group discussion (GD) is a methodology to assess a candidate’s personality traits and skills. The members of the group are assigned with a topic or a situation and given a few minutes to think about the topic and then asked to discuss it among themselves for 15 to 20 minutes. The purpose of the group discussion is to assess the candidates’ skills related to membership, leadership qualities, listening and articulation skills in the given short time which cannot be evaluated in an interview.

Selection Procedure:

For MBA 
  • The selection of the candidates shall be done on the basis of Entrance Examination & Personal Interview (PI)

FOR PG
  • The selection of the students shall be done on the basis of Personal Interview only

Cash Payment
  • Candidate must take the print out of payment receipt / Challan after filling the application form. Take the Payment Receipt to any of the listed selected Axis branch given on website http://www.sibm.edu/admissions/howtoapply.html and pay the necessary application fee
  • Collect the Prospectus from the Axis bank counter
  • Candidate must send a scanned copy of paid challan to weekendprogramme@sibm.edu

Online Payment
  • Online payment can be made using Credit Card/Debit Card
  • After making the payment candidate must send a mail to weekendprogramme@sibm.edu mentioning the details of the Online Transaction
  • After the Authentication of payment, the prospectus will be sent to the candidate by courier on the registered correspondence address
