The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was conceived as a 'Research Institute' or 'University of Research' by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, in the final years of the 19th century. The Institute offers a variety of Master's degree programs in Engineering, an integrated Ph.D (post-B.Sc) program in Sciences and Ph.D programs in a wide spectrum of disciplines in science and engineering. This year the Institute launches a 4-year undergraduate program leading to a B.S. degree, with an opportunity for students to obtain a broad foundation in science, including an exposure to research.

Eligibility:
SC / ST students studying I year M.Sc in science disciplines (Biological, Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences) or III year BE / B.Tech or equivalent degree, during the academic year 2011-12 are eligible to apply this progrmme
Selection Procedure:
IISc. will evolve a suitable criteria for selecting the candidates for the programme.
