Six New IIMs to Participate in Joint Admission Process

All new six IIMs (Indian Institute of Management) namely IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Raipur, IIM Udaipur and IIM Kashipur will host the Joint Admission Process for admissions 2012.

Joint Admission Process for 2012 will be held in 5 cities this time - Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. IIM Udaipur and IIM Kashipur will conduct the Joint Admission process for the first time this year.

But this time IIMs have introduced the following changes in their admission process:-

(1) No GD Process:
IIMs have decided that instead of GD process candidates will have to appear for Written Analysis/Essay Writing Process in the admission process of 2012. Sources reveal that the institutes have a hard time paying individual attention to all the participants. A dominating candidate can sometimes overshadow a good speaker. So the IIMs this time have decided to hire a professional agency to assess the essays written by the participants. Evaluation of the essays will be done to check the communication skill of the candidate and ability to analyze a topic in a given time period. IIM Ranchi has been assigned this responsibility to look into this matter.

(2) New and Old IIMs to Share Shortlisted Candidates Data:
The new and older IIMs will be sharing the data of the shortlisted candidates this time. The older IIMs will not directly participate in the admission process for 2012 but have promised to extend full support to the newer IIMs.

For students who have also applied at the new IIMs and are participating in the GD-PI-WAT process at older IIMs, the new IIMs are expecting their scores to be acquired from the older IIMs so that a candidate does not need to be re-evaluated and the new IIMs save on time. As a result, the new IIMs can directly utilize the CAT and the GD-PI-WAT scores given by the older IIMs to the candidates. Although, the candidates selected by the new IIMs will have to undergo the complete process of personal evaluation in the Common Admission Process.

Last year the joint admission process 2011 was certainly a success with 4 new IIMs conducting the same. This year with 6 new IIMs conducting the joint admission process, much higher expectations are associated with the anticipated results.
