IIM Seats Remain Vacant | Shillong, Trichy and Rothak IIMs Seats Remain Vacant 2011
There are seats still vacant at three new IIMs though the admissions have closed and classes have started.
According to sources, 55 seats are yet to be filled at the Shillong, Trichy and Rothak IIMs.
There are 13 IIMs in the country with an intake capacity of nearly 2,700 students in post-graduate programmes.
IIM Shillong has found suitable applicants for 106 of its 120 seats in its batch while IIM Trichy has enrolled 84 students, leaving 36 seats vacant. Five seats are yet to be filled up in IIM Rohtak.
All these three IIMs have closed their admissions for this year and have started classes from July 4.
Sources point out that the vacancy problem is routine and they attribute it to the simultaneous admissions to all the IIMs in which students prefer admissions into the old IIMs. If the admissions to the IIMs were staggered, the coveted seats would not remain vacant, they say.
