FMS to accept CAT score, scraps institutes entrance exam

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University, has decided to scrap the entrance exam conducted every year for its Ph.D and MBA programs. Instead, FMS will accept the Common Admission Test (CAT) scores for admissions.

The decision was taken on 5th September, Monday in an emergency faculty meeting. Earlier, Delhi University (DU) had expressed its inability to conduct the FMS entrance exam on December 4, 2011 because of its burden of conducting too many exams.

However, the decision to accept CAT score is not unanimous. It is facing opposition from the FMS teachers who feel that the decision has been taken in haste.

They argue that FMS entrance examination is more appropriate than CAT and accepting CAT score will affect the quality of the students admitted at FMS. They also says that the students who prepared for taking FMS entrance test will now have to take CAT and spend extra money.
