Punjab Engineering College - 500 AIEEE Qualifiers Not Allowed to Attend Counseling, 2011

The counselling session for most engineering colleges in the country is ongoing. 500 students, who have passed the AIEEE examination, got a shock when they came to know that they were not permitted to attend the counselling session of Punjab Engineering College. This year, the Punjab University has taken new initiative and has come up with an online counselling system to admit students.

However, the students had submitted the counselling fee well before the time but still were not allowed to take part in the counselling session due to some technical problem in logging. Due to the technical issues, these students could not register themselves on time and could not complete their registration. After this incident, the students as well as their parents protested against the management and raised this point. They complained that due to the technical issues, their children have lost the opportunity to take part in the counselling session.

Expressing dismay to media, Arpeet Singh, a parent, said he had submitted a fee of Rs. 1,050 but still his child was not allowed to appear in the counselling session. Ironically, the Punjab Engineering College had brought new software for counselling this year to make the counselling process simple and easy.
